Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:

Colorado Springs - Growing up in the midwest makes the mountains and trails awe-inspiring!
When I started running and what got me started:
I ran track during middle and high school. I wasn't great, but had a coach that inspired me to be a lifelong runner. My mentor teacher during grad school said to me at a Turkey Trot in Cedar Rapids, "so when are you doing your first marathon". It took me a month to decide he was right and sign up for my 1st. That was 2005. Running is how I have met some of the most important and special people in my life. It has given me more than just fitness. It gives me self-esteem, social outlets, stress relief, and travel opportunities. And...did I mention I get to eat a lot of food?
What does running mean to me:
Running is what allows me to be good at my job. Without the stress relieve of running, I would not have survived in my field! Now, I am just addicted. Marathons are my first love, but living in CO, trail running is moving up on the list! It is also a social outlet, allows me to eat about anything I want and makes my legs look AMAZING! My family thinks I am crazy. My friends call it my addition.

What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love the beauty of the outdoors in Colorado. Trail running makes me feel strong, alive and at peace with my world.
Favorite running trail and why:
Waldo Canyon - it never gets easy, the downhills make up for the uphills, and the views are amazing.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I hope to complete the PPM this year (actually I did in 2010)! 2011 I want to finish FASTER.
Best running experience:
Winning the Casper 2009 women's marathon. Who knew?
Worst running experience:
I got hailed on in May 2010. That was worse than running in -25 wind chills in Iowa.
Neatest thing found on a run:
A friend of mine once found a Rubics cube on a run...he carried it in his pocket for 14 miles.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Running the last 6 miles of the Casper marathon with a little something extra...I was winning!!!!
Running pet peeves:
I know this sounds shallow, but I hate seeing/hearing about people who use treadmills when the weather is so beautiful outside. I realize that not everyone runs in all weather conditions like myself, but seriously...we have little humidity AND lots of sunshine!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I have a secret obsession with ABBA. It dates back to my 5th birthday!
Other hobbies and interests:
Cycling (road and mountain), hiking, reading, eating, hanging with my beagle...
