What I do for work:
I am a retired RN. I mostly worked with the mentally insane. Challenging but fulfilling work.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I live in Pueblo. We have a beautiful river trail as well as an amazing reservoir. We get a bad rap from folks up north but Pueblo is actually a nice place to live. Come check it out.
When I started running and what got me started:
Started in 1985. I had just quit smoking and I hoped it would help me stay off cigarettes. It did.
What does running mean to me:
Joy, freedom.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Boston marathon, NYC marathon, Chicago Marathon. Being a runner for over 30 years.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Love the mountain Scenery. I’m looking to get better at trail running, I’m slow coming down.
Favorite running trail and why:
Dont have one yet. Looking forward to learning new trails.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Ascent. Well organized and amazingly beautiful and challenging.
Best running experience:
Finishing my first marathon in 23 years.
Worst running experience:
Can’t really think of any.
Neatest thing found on a run:
A best friend.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Nope
Running pet peeves:
Prices of races keep going up and I hate when races don’t offer a women’s shirt. That’s not fair. Women pay the same yet we are expected to take a men’s shirt. Men’s shirts are not attractive on women. I know it’s more work to offer women’s shirts so I would be okay with a no shirt option with a lower price.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I’m certified in Auricular Acupuncture.
Other hobbies and interests:
Swimming, biking, reading. Ive been a rave director for the Rock Canyon half, Atalanta women’s 5k and the Spring Runoff 10miler, 10k, 5k.
Other stuff:
I absolutely love tacos and margaritas. I’m looking forward to learning new trails in the area.
