What I do for work:
Work? Huh, what is that? I am an Artist / Custom Painter mostly, but can do dishes for food too.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Native to the Great Lake State (SW), lived here until my early 20s....then it was Hawaii bound for 21 years...mostly on the Northshore of Oahu
When I started running and what got me started:
Always ran, if I was going somewhere I was running or riding a bike.......some things never change! Running is who I have always been, it is that thing that is my gift.
What does running mean to me:
Running is simply a way to connect to Dad (some call him God or other names) It means that I and ALL things are connected and one.
Running accomplishments:
I mostly run for me, but I have run in the Kalamazoo Klassic (unofficially of course, I was gaining on those Kenyans.......lol) I did run the Great Aloha Run once also, did pretty good too") The most important running accomplishment is I can still put one foot in front of the other....
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Connecting to the life of the land. Talking to Dad....see above.
Favorite running trail and why:
Cambodia (Kaunala) in Pupukea on Oahu......a dream.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
doesn't apply yet.
Best running experience:
Every time I go run in the woods.....I guess when I was in High School and on the Hockey team....I ran a 4:15 mile for the track coach.......just to show him long haired hockey player can run...the look on his face was priceless.......lol
Worst running experience:
Can't think of one, but I remember coming into Aloha Stadium after beating 20,000 people and having not one person there to tell me good job......kinda sad.
Neatest thing found on a run:
??? Not sure of that one, I love seeing the animals if that counts....
Running related bathroom stop story:
none
Running pet peeves:
People out there who can't even smile or say Hi.....
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I know some crazy things about Aliens
Other hobbies and interests:
Mountain biking, water skiing, art, photography, writing, life.
Other stuff:
I plan on running my first 100 mile run this Sept. I have never run further than 30 miles.....this will be fun;) Ultra Marathon Man started me on this path, I didn't know anything about crazy people who run for days not hours......Born to Run is one of the most inspiring books I have read...since I am Native and run in moccasins, I relate to that feeling of feeling the earth, not that the Raramuri feel the earth with car tires as shoes.....lol
I was a vegetarian for over 20 years, I fell off the wagon, I need to get back on....
I am enjoying learning about you crazy mountain runners and ultra runners, it is cool. I will come out to your mountain one of these days and see the beauty of the Colorado Rockies first hand........be nice to me, I am a flat lander now!
