Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Born and raised in Canon City, CO. I love Colorado's mountains.

When I started running and what got me started:
I started running after college (in 1976)when a friend signed me up for a 4 mile race. When I got there, six people were signed up for the race. When I finished, only my friend was still there. (And I think that was only because I had the car keys.) I've been running "back of the pack" ever since.

Running accomplishments: View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Leadville trail 100 finisher 2002
2 time Hawaii Ironman finisher 1991, 1996
2 time Canadian Ironman finisher 1993, 1996
25+ marathons
More running shirts than I can count

What I like about trail/mountain running:
No people. No motorized vehicles. No pavement. No pressure.

Favorite running trail and why:
Garden of the Gods. It's close. It's beautiful. Every time I run it, I wonder why I don't run it more often.

Running related bathroom stop story:
A "friend" of mine tells this story. He had just started (4 AM )running the Leadville 100. He was only a few miles into the race when he had to stop to "poop." Since it was still pitch black dark out on the trail, he only moved several yards off the trail. He turned off his flashlight so no one would see him, and did his business. Now here is where the challenge came. He set the flashlight down on the ground near him BUT where? It was too dark to see the turned-off light so he just "felt around on the ground" until he found it. Some can guess what else he found...

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I took off a year of training to learn how to fly. I received my pilot's certificate and haven't flown since.
