Mississippi------Mississippi born, Mississippi bred, and when I die I'll be Mississippi dead :^)
When I started running and what got me started:
Started in December, 1969. Mom had 5 heart attacks, one behind the other. Scared this over weight two pack a day smoker and started me running.
What does running mean to me:
It helped me start a new life.
Running accomplishments:
26 marathons, 16 ultras. In 1979 I was fortunate to be able to run walk and carry the fanny pack of my friend, Carl Touchstone, from Michigan Bluff to the finish. Broke me down and I turned to race walking. That took me to 12 Senior Olympics and several State records, I still hold.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Mississippi doesn't have more than hills. Just wish I could still run!!!!
Best running experience:
Setting and holding state records (race walking in Mississippi) and finishing 10th in my age group at the National Senior Olympics in San Jose, Cal in 2007.I
Worst running experience:
Not able to compete any more, due to ruptured disc.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Peace and the runners high.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
Sharing my faith and the love of Jesus Christ!
Other hobbies and interests:
Going to the range and shooting all my guns and when possible my bow's
