City: colorado springs State: co
Favorite Shoe: le sportiva Size: 9
Age: 56 years old
Marital Status: married
my wonderful hubby of almost 25 years and izzy our 2 year old golden retriever.
What I do for work:
i am currently happily unemployed. previously worked as an operating room nurse, mostly in heart surgery.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
my husband was in the united states air force for 23 years, so i've lived a lot of places...florida gulf coast, loved the beaches and water skiing; england, beautiful country and opportunity to travel in europe; new mexico, fell in love with the western climate!; northern virginia, lots of history but too much traffic; germany, beautiful forests and more opportunity to see more of europe; illinois, hated the weather but was part of an awesome running group and COLORADO, we lived here prior to germany and illinois and knew it would be our "forever" home and now it is :).
When I started running and what got me started:
i started running in the 7th grade (i had played volleyball and basketball, so track was just "next") and have loved it ever since. had an undiagnosed lower leg injury in the early 90s and that was not a good time :(.
What does running mean to me:
running is just a part of me, hard to explain, but i know i'm happier when i get to run. running has introduced me to many wonderful people and i've been able to run in some beautiful places. in germany i started running some great forest trails and i am really loving running the trails here in colorado.

qualified for and ran boston. ran my first 25mile trail race this year (really wanted to run 50, but just wasn't feeling it...so maybe that isn't an "accomplishment"?...there's always next year...right?). helped a friend train for her first marathon :).
What I like about trail/mountain running:
the scenery. slower pace...i'm not a total slacker, but i find i'm less competitive on the trails (probably because i'm nervous about tripping and breaking a body part!) and trails seem kinder to the ol' legs :)
Favorite running trail and why:
currently i'd have to say the course for the collegiate peaks trail race...it was BEAUTIFUL. even though i was disappointed with my decision to "only" do 25 i enjoyed the experience and will certainly do that race again.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Best running experience:
boston 2006...i was pleased to qualify and the event was amazing. my running buddy and i traveled together and our husbands joined us for a fun filled week in boston. the support of the locals was incredible.
Worst running experience:
is there such a thing? i'm sure back in the early 90s every time i thought i had rested long enough and tried to run again and couldn't was depressing. i remember coming back from a run in tears and my hubby asking me if "it hurt that bad?" and responding "no, but it still hurts" and feeling so frustrated.
Neatest thing found on a run:
friendship....corny but true.
Running related bathroom stop story:
sort of...i remember running the marine corps marathon with a wad of TP in a plastic bag for the whole event...just in case! it was my sister's first marathon and she was worried. but the bag and it's contents were still intact at the end. we called it our lucky TP (my sis was worried she wouldn't be able to finish the race, but she did!).
Running pet peeves:
although i have a dog and she runs with me, i can't stand when people leave dog poop in the middle of the trail. i don't expect someone to bag up and carry it for miles and miles, but at least scoop/kick it off the trail!!! don't get me started on humans leavig TP on the trail...really?!!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
i am occasionally scared/nervous around some dogs.
Other hobbies and interests:
travel, reading, snow sking,
