What I do for work:
Finance at Harrison School District 2
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
San Jose--great place to grow up, wouldn't want to live there now Oahu--40 minutes and you're at another beach Chico, CA--too darn hot! I have loved the mountains ever since I sang along with John Denver in 7th grade, and went on my first backpack trip in 6th grade. I'm still amazed when I see the purple mountains every morning.
When I started running and what got me started:
For fun and fitness in college--I keep coming back to it for sanity
What does running mean to me:
Running means freedom and health and de-stressing--I'll do it as long as I can
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
50k in the Oakland Hills in '08, and at North Fork 50k in '10. Honolulu, Pikes Peak, Breckenridge, Colorado, Leadville Marathons. 20 yrs difference between my first and second ones.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Away from traffic and usually people
Favorite running trail and why:
The backside of Section 16--2 miles of long, fast downhill. Makes you earn it, though.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
BTMR--all proceeds go to non-profits, well-run, challenging. Breckenridge M & 1/2 is a close second, though--beautiful and challenging.
Best running experience:
Breaking trail at Rampart Reservoir at daybreak with 6" fresh snow. Steam coming off the lake and a gorgeous sunrise made the early hour worth getting up for.
Worst running experience:
Bonking at the end of Barr Trail Mtn Race. July 2005, hot day, no gel at the top and I didn't come prepared for that possibility. I learned my lesson!
Neatest thing found on a run:
Peace of mind--always a neat thing.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Sorry, none that qualify as G-rated.
Running pet peeves:
Dog poop on the trail--or hanging from a branch in a bag. At LEAST hide it before you retrieve it!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I used to ride my unicycle to and from high school, about 1 mile.
Other hobbies and interests:
Quilting, mtn. biking, chocolate (making and eating).
Other stuff:
Mantra: NO MORE INJURIES!!
