Awesome husband Marty and amazing son Devin. And 3 dogs Riley, Lexi and Cooper. .
What I do for work:
I work in public health dept for the el paso county.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
California because I was born and raised there. And Colorado! I love living here because I chose to raise my son in this beautiful state. Love the mountains. Love running, hiking and camping out here.
When I started running and what got me started:
Started in 1987. Started racing in 1998. Started trail running in 2006. Trail altitude running 2008. I started taking it more seriously and became really addicted to it in 2008 due to stress. I started running back in the day to stay skinny, then it bumped up to help manage my stress and now I run for fun and to stay healthy.
What does running mean to me:
Running to me means determination, courage, perseverance, stress free, peace, health and beautiful scenery. Go that extra mile and you will see it all.
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
I have done lots of 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, full marathons, pikes ascents, pikes peak marathons. And i have done the double PPA am4d PPM the same weekend.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Love the challenge and the beauty of it.
Favorite running trail and why:
Lately section palmer trail. It's not overly crowded if you go early. And not a whole lot of tourists, mostly locals.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes peak....because it is a challenge !
Best running experience:
I usually run by myself... my running buddies always seem to move away. On my last run with my buddies , we ran about 10 miles that morning on the Santa Fe trail and on the last mile one of them screamed out race you to car. We all ran hard...I won ! I won the boys !!
Worst running experience:
I passed out on the pikes peak ascent, right on the peak, only had 2 miles left but that felt like an eternity. The guy behind me caught me, the girl behind him gave me a salt tablet and the girl behind her gave me some Gatorade to drink down the tablet. I finished and still got my medal.
Neatest thing found on a run:
I found my strength physically, mentally and emotionally.
Running related bathroom stop story:
I'm really good about finding secluded areas. No funny stories sorry.
Running pet peeves:
I do not like rude, mean people. There is no need for that bad behavior! I'm always smiling and saying hi, hopefully I can rub off some happiness.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm so much of a lady like that when I throw an f bomb over something
people that dont know me usually fall off their chair laughing. My husband taught me well. Lol !
Other hobbies and interests:
Love mountain bike riding, skiing, yoga, sporting clay shooting, camping, back packing, hiking with my husband and my 2 dogs.
I do enjoy reading a good book. Love my family and friends. Love cooking / baking and learning new recipes.
