Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Much of my life in Sacramento, Calif, plus a great 5 years in Germany. I've been in Colorado since 1996--love it!
When I started running and what got me started:
I started in 1996--the stress of my job going away in Sacramento got me inspired to try running again.
What does running mean to me:
I like the training and love the competition.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
1999 Pueblo River trails marathon--survived (4:24) 1999 Fall series, 1st, 45-49 2000 TCR, 1st, 45-49 (but, "1st" after the 3 masters) 2003 Ft Collins Old Town Marathon, 4:13 PPA: 1999/2001/2004/2007/2008 PPM: 2000/2002/2003/2005/2006
What I like about trail/mountain running:
trees, a soft surface, no cars, no curbs, lots of hills, fast downhills, long runs.... And, running with my "pack"--I'm the guy with 2 yellow labs on Barr Trail on Friday or Saturday mornings. They're friendly!
Favorite running trail and why:
Mt Herman and Limbaugh Canyon areas in Monument--it's my home turf.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
PPM. It's the toughest marathon in the whole country.
Best running experience:
First PPA--what a great feeling to get to the top & accomplish that race! And, get a hug from Eryn!
Worst running experience:
Pueblo Marathon--My first marathon & I was not sufficiently trained for that distance. The entire race was on a hard surface--the last 5-6 miles were less than fun.
Neatest thing found on a run:
In '03 I found a 4 point mule deer antler shed just off UPT. Eryn lashed it to my camelback & I finished the 3hr run with it.
Other hobbies and interests:
Anything outdoors---backpacking, hunting, fishing, camping, icefishing, target shooting, and my 1965 Sunbeam Tiger--it needs a bit of work!
Other stuff:
Movie: The Graduate Books: author, Peter Hathaway Capstick Goals: 3:30 PPA & 6:00 PPM. Training: Always trying to increase my training to something respectable. Delusions: Do Leadville with Eryn... Or, at least pace for her. Not quite so delusional: Do the Run-Rabbit-Run 50mi in 2010. Oddities: I don't need no stinkin' tights on Sunday mornings!
