"Joy makes the longest journey too short."
City: Colorado Springs State: CO
Favorite Shoe: Brooks Glycerine for now Size: 6
Age: 49.4 years old
Marital Status: Married to Brian Hubel
Husband Brian, kids Oliver and Zoe, old black lab Sadie.
What I do for work:
I coach gymnastics! From little ittie bitties all the way to the college bound.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I am a Colorado Springs native! Born and raised on the westside and now call downtown my hood. Spent a year west of Denver, but being at the foot of Pikes Peak, I mean really, what more could I ask for?
When I started running and what got me started:
In college I ran a mile for a PE class, for years my gymnasts have run a mile a week in the summer months for part of their general fitness and I would walk/run/ride along side them. It wasn't until I was 42 that my team and I did a 5k mud run together and I was hooked!
What does running mean to me:
A lot of what that quote means to me. The physical/emotional release while I run, the freedom to go where I want, when I want, at whatever speed I want (or can handle), and the fresh Colorado air all create a joy that makes the longest journey too short.

There aren't many yet but most proud of my first half marathon in 2013, the PPA in 2014, the fun of the Pony Express, and most recently the Fred Lebow Half Marathon in Central Park, NY (that was an accomplishment where I made all my goals only to learn that I did it with pneumonia!).
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love the challenge and beauty of the trails.
Favorite running trail and why:
Lots of trails around here are great, but I'm partial to Garden of the Gods and Barr Trail. Rampart Reservoir is a great trail too!
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I've only done PPA and Pony Express, love them both!
Best running experience:
Not sure yet...although the feeling of accomplishment at the end of PPA was awesome!
Worst running experience:
The terrible post run recovery following a great race at the Fred Lebow Half. Shivers, shakes, and short of breath at sea level? That's when I learned I had pneumonia:(
Neatest thing found on a run:
Running related bathroom stop story:
Lucky here, not too much to report.
Running pet peeves:
Dogs on retractable leashes that owners don't retract! Smokers on the Incline and Barr Trail, I just don't get it.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I make really good bbq baby back ribs.
Other hobbies and interests:
If it's outside I probably enjoy it, camping, skiing, mountain biking, back packing, gardening, although I rarely do a lot of it anymore.
Always looking for good training tips and advice, I still feel like a rookie.
