What I do for work:

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Farmington, New Mexico
Houston, Texas
Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia
If you have ever been to any of the above, you don't need to ask why I live here.

When I started running and what got me started:
1975, our school track coach was looking for someone to run the mile. I did not weigh a 100 pounds until high school, so other sports had kind of left me behind.

What does running mean to me:
Its the link to myself. The person I was in 1975 is always waiting for a run, although I can't always keep up anymore.

Running accomplishments: View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Not many. Age group awards in lots of local races. Eight marathons so far, including a sub 3 hr Boston in 2008.

What I like about trail/mountain running:
The scenery, adventure, and low body impact.

Favorite running trail and why:
Elk Park to Barr Camp. Its remote, pretty easy, great scenery.
Also, the "oil field roads" in Farmington, NM, where I first experienced long distance running.

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Imogene Pass Run. This seems to be what I would imagine the Pikes Peak races were before they got too big. The ascent is really difficult, then you get to run all out for 6 miles downhill.

Worst running experience:
I once got caught in a storm at the top of the Peak by myself during the week in the evening, running from Elk Park. I couldn't get a ride down because the Summit House was closed, so I started running down the road in a combination of rain and sleet. About 2 miles down I was considering finding a rock to crawl under and was getting close to hypothermia when a park ranger came by and let me jump in the back of his truck with about 20 other hikers. I think it literally saved my life.

Neatest thing found on a run:
My wife, Marilyn. We met in the "Timberline Track Club" that used to meet at the CC track. We still have lots of friends from that club and the other club that met at the same time.
