Build rustic furniture, Owner "Aspen Circle Creations", furniture store in Manitou Springs.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Michigan, Italy (Army), Maine, Death Valley and Yosemite CA Love everything about CO., especially the weather, trails and mountains.
When I started running and what got me started:
Ran track in high school but didn't start running distance until I was about 28 years old.
What does running mean to me:
It keeps me somewhat centered.

In spite of numerous knee surgeries I've run over 30 marathons. Had a running streak for over 6 years but on Jan 21, 06 I woke up and realized that I had forgotten to run the day before. Go figure.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It is good for my knees and my head.
Favorite running trail and why:
Northern Teller County Forest Service trails. They are near my house and offer all levels of terrain.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I haven't run too many different trail races but the Barr trail race and the Ascent are fun.
Best running experience:
Pacing my wife Brenda through the Paris Marathon.
Worst running experience:
None
Neatest thing found on a run:
Abandoned mine and cabin on Pikes Peak.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Had to pee behind a dumpster during the Chicago marathon and had a brief discussion with a homeless guy. We wished each other luck.
Running pet peeves:
Knee pain
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I've worked (live trapped, tranquilized, and relocated) black bears in Yosemite and wild burros in Death Valley.
Other hobbies and interests:
I like to telemark ski and read books.
Other stuff:
Running is fun and don't be afraid to hit the trails even if you are slow.
