Older......and trying to be Faster!
"Buy the ticket, take the ride." Hunter Thompson
City: Pueblo State: CO
Favorite Shoe: Nike Equalon Size: 7.5
Age: 54.8 years old
Marital Status: Single
Mom, Dad, brother, all runners--including my dad, still, at 78!
What I do for work:
Freelance writer. I've written twice about the Peak!
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born in NYC, spent summers in Florissant, hence my love for Pikes Peak--can't get it out of my blood. I've been back and forth from Colorado to the Bay Area, but finally decided not to deny my destiny!
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running for lacrosse training in high school and never stopped!
What does running mean to me:
Simple: running is my sanity; my religion, my constant companion, a way to enjoy being outside and to hopefully meet other runners who feel the same.

7 Ascents: two turned back due to weather; two completed PPM Training in the Oakland Hills and around Mt. Diablo in California with an older ultra running friend who always inspired me to go long and keep it slow and steady.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love the challenge and the feeling of balancing speed and agility and endurance.
Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail; it has a lot of meaning from my childhood and times spent in Florissant growing up.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes--the people are great; the mountain really seems to bring people to together.
Best running experience:
2005 Ascent--scary weather but we made it. I was running with an ultra friend who constantly amazes me--at his age, he's still at it and we actually laughed in the face of our fear.
Doing well in the 2015 Marathon and not cramping!
Worst running experience:
Falling flat on my face on a trail, with my car in site, resulting in a concussion. Not fun. Breaking ribs a mile out of Barr last summer--worst fall yet!
Neatest thing found on a run:
The cool and inspiring people I meet on the trail almost every time.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Haven't had any bad ones!
Running pet peeves:
People who do it social on a big race and chat on and on like we're not there after months of training, trying to be focused. Also people who don't call out that they're behind.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm also a burlesque/theater dancer and ride a dirtbike.
Other hobbies and interests:
Dancing, reading interior design
I'm always inspired by older runners who have stories and tips about hanging in there and having fun.
