My entire family lives in Pennsylvania so its just me and my dogs here in Colorado. I have a 2 year old Vizsla named Penny and a 9 year old Weimaraner named Sterling. They love to run with me and are awesome companions.
What I do for work:
Human Resources at Progressive Insurance and yoga instructor at CorePower Yoga
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I knew the moment I arrived in Colorado that I was "home". I love seeing the mountains every single day. There is a greater sense of connectedness with the planet living here and it has created such peace. I can honestly say living here has allowed me to grow as a person.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running (around the block) about 13 years ago when I turned 20 and realized I couldn't eat like a teenager anymore. I didn't start to LOVE running till about 8 years ago when I went on a trail run with someone faster than me. We talked the entire time and all of a sudden we had run 8 miles (my longest ever at the time)and it felt easy. That day I fell in love with running and the person I was running with.
What does running mean to me:
It is my sanity. It is my time to be quiet in my own thoughts or time to drown them out through music or my footsteps. I love to run and I love the way it makes me feel both mentally and physically.
I feel like I am still a baby in my running resume.. I have run 8 marathons in 8 different states and have placed in 2 of them. I PRd at Boston during the 2007 noreaster with a 3:23. Now I hope to accomplish at least a marathon a year and to be able to run long past retirement
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love how FUN the rolling hills are, how challenging the up-hills are and how terrifying the down-hills are!
Favorite running trail and why:
I am new to trail running, I've mostly run roads-- only a few trails, but I do love Waldo. Its challenging in the beginning and fun through the keyhole.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I haven't run a mountain race yet, but its in my goals!
Best running experience:
There are too many to count...!
Worst running experience:
Ugh, Chicago marathon in 96 degree temps plus humidity, 40 minutes off my slowest marathon time and 4 (!!!) black and blue toes afterwards!
Neatest thing found on a run:
hmmmm.... not sure if it's the neatest but definitely the gnarliest and most memorable. I was running in bear creek and came across a 1/2 deer. litterally. It looked like someone tore through it right behind the front legs so its torso and rear legs were left behind right in the middle of the trail. It was pretty creepy...
Running related bathroom stop story:
Well my dog stopped without notice to poop and I wasn't looking and tripped over him..... oh wait that's probably not the type of bathroom story you meant....
Running pet peeves:
people who leave their gu packets (or any litter for that matter)on the trails.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I grew up on a dairy farm
Other hobbies and interests:
I went to school for art and love to paint. LOVE YOGA! and I adore my two dogs Penny and Sterling
