What I do for work:
Transitioning from the US Army. Looking for a good job RIGHT NOW!
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I was based out of Fort Benning, GA for 12 years - Loved the place. Go to Big Dog Running, Inc for any running needs there ... great people. The great thing about CoSprgs is the variety of trails and urban trails. My running routes are always changing!
When I started running and what got me started:
Running for real... Dec 25, 2007. I got started as a challenge.
What does running mean to me:
Freedom, peace and happiness
Running with friends. Marathon Maniac #3499. Relays across GA in the summer (x2). Crossing the Florida Keys 7-mile bridge on foot. Under 12-hour 53 miles. Being selected to run for Fort Benning's Army Ten Miler team twice. Running marathons for charity.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The beauty of the trail.
Favorite running trail and why:
Still exploring... love most of them!
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Limited experience with trail racing. The Fort Bennings Octoberfest trail 10k was really cool, though.
Best running experience:
Running with friends. Watching fellow runners grow up and complete their first marathon.
Worst running experience:
Bonked on the Pig Trails 10k. It was July and I had done an Army 10 Miler qualifier on Saturday Morning, the Make-it-by-Midnight Marathon Saturday night and bonked on Sunday during the 10K. Triple the pleasure, triple the fun!
Neatest thing found on a run:
Running related bathroom stop story:
Army Ten Miler, 2009. I was representing Fort Benning and had faught to stay with a guy from Fort Lewis, but by mile 5 I had to "cut sling load". I made it to the line of porta-potties at mile 6. As I pulled off I yelled out, "See ya later." I slide to a stop in front of the line of port-o-lets, missed the one I aimed for, but the one next to it was also open. It was stop, drop and go. The next 4 miles I went faster than the first half, and caught the guy from Fort Lewis in the last mile.
Running pet peeves:
un-leashed, un-fenced dogs.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
My bitch skill is sewing.
Other hobbies and interests:
Runners have other hobbies? Started cycling recently with a road bike... but I still suck.
Goals: The RAG (Run across GA) as an individual. Aiming for 2015.
