Running or skipping , it doesn't matter; they both make me happy!
City: Castle Rock State: CO
Favorite Shoe: Mizuno Size: 9
Age: 59.2 years old
Marital Status: Single
Family members:
Several. My Uncle John ran the NYC Marathon several times when it was just a cool thing to do. He ran one of them with a 7 1/2 minute mile pace when he was 57. (OK, I think that is awesome!)
What I do for work:
Computers
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Arizona, Florida. Because I was born in Colorado.
When I started running and what got me started:
'04. The yoga studio closed. I started on a tread mill. Now I hate tread mills.
What does running mean to me:
It is a form of freedom; until I decided that I would make a good trail runner. (I'm trying, but now I am real slow!)
Running accomplishments:
A ton of half marathons, the Marine Corp Marathon in DC ('06 and '07 for a charity.)... and my newest entry: I got into the Pikes Peak Ascent. Note to self: Do not drive the big truck to Manitou Springs; bring the little car. **Did the Marine Corp Marathon in '08 and had a negative split. I ran the second half 15 minutes faster than the first 13.1! Yeah baby! I was in the second way of the Pikes Peak ascent, I will try to get into the first wave for next year. :)
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I feel like I have earned my "huevos"!
Favorite running trail and why:
Any where, I love to run on a trail.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I am going to run the Hat Run (30K) in Maryland March '09
Best running experience:
Running in the Marine Corp Marathon in '07 and '08. Ran in memory of a fallen hero and the family (Dad and Sister run) tracked my timing. Then I got email afterwards. What I did was such a small thing, and it meant something. (Gotta stop typing, tears welling up in my eyeballs!)
Worst running experience:
The '07 Denver marathon. I made the holes in my garbage bag too big and I got very wet. (Wore it the whole race, until I was ready to cross the finish line.)
Neatest thing found on a run:
Gloves
Running related bathroom stop story:
Marine Corp Marathon '07. Several of us gals ran into the bushes, and then ran out when a bunch of guys were running by. They just missed it...! Haaaa
Running pet peeves:
Beeping noises made by electronic trainers and hrm - Garmin's, Polars, etc. . People who wear cologne or perfume and run!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
That I like hand puppets!
Other hobbies and interests:
24 Mountain Biking races, snowboarding, camping, learning how to rock climb with ropes, shoe shopping, eating lots of chocolate.
Other stuff:
Run for you! Run at your own pace. If you sign up for a race, show up!
