Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
St. Louis, MO until 9/1/09; moved to Woodland Park. Like it much better, esp. when I can breathe while running again...
When I started running and what got me started:
Started running Oct. 1995 to lose weight-- lost 50lbs
What does running mean to me:
Joy, agony, peace, exhilaration, pain, stiff and sore muscles... can't wait to go out and get that next high anyway
Running accomplishments:
Oct 1995: I ran 0.3miles! Oct. 1996: ran my first marathon (St. Louis) Oct 1999: marathon PR 3:15(St. Louis) 2000 Boston Marathon 2000 Flat Rock 50K: Women's Course record, overall winner 2000 Quivering Quads 50M: Women's Course Record 2001 Rocky Raccoon (first 100M, 3rd overall female) 2005: Leadville Trail 100 finisher 2007: Frankenstein 50K Women's Course Record
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Everything
Favorite running trail and why:
I just moved to Colorado so am just learning the trails; I do not have a favorite yet
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Leadville Trail 100: love the race, most of the course (except Fish Hatchery to Treeline). The people who volunteer are great and I love the challenge of the elevation.
Best running experience:
2000 Flat Rock 50K: ran a women's course record and beat all the men as well... was just a day when everything went right
Worst running experience:
2001 Leadville Trail 100: forced to DNF after 60 miles with a femur stress fracture
Neatest thing found on a run:
one of my cats-- followed me nearly a mile back to my car even while I was with my dog... She is one of the coolest cats I have ever been owned by!
Running pet peeves:
People who let their pets (or they do) relieve themselves in the middle of the trail or throw trash down
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I really like baking and making gingerbread houses. Have to learn a new recipe for 9200'
Other hobbies and interests:
dirt bike riding, mountain bike riding (just learning), kayaking
Other stuff:
After taking nearly 18 mos off of running, I am trying to get back into regular training and eventually racing again
