What I do for work:
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born In Germany Been In Colorado Springs Most Of My Life
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in high school and then not again until I was 49 years old. I did however discover the Incline at age 45 and I love to run up it after work, during work, on weekends, and whenever I can!
What does running mean to me:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Ran a sub 3 hr. Ascent in 06'. Was 3rd In MY Age Group IN 05 Did The INCLINE In 22:34 IN 06' 22:24 in 07
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The scenery and the people.
Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail and Mt. Princeton road. It allows me to run above treeline and the views are spectacular. The Barr Trail is close enough to home to get to at least 3 times each week.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent. It's all uphill and I love the challenge. The competition is always good.
Best running experience:
Running a 2:56:24 Ascent in 06' after spending a good year training with my goal to run under 3 hrs.
Worst running experience:
My first Pikes Peak Marathon. When I got done I swore I would never run up that mountain again. My wife asked me to put that down in writing and I'm glad I didn't. I wasn't in shape and didn't train well enough so it was an experience in severe pain. I hurt for several weeks after the race.
Neatest thing found on a run:
A new PR.
Running pet peeves:
I hate stepping in dog crap on the trail.
Other hobbies and interests:
Climbing 14ers, 100 highest, 200 highest. Finished climbing the all Colorado 14ers in 1996. Finished the 100 highest peaks in Colorado in 2004. Working on the 200 highest. Right now I'm at #153
Lance Armstrong's book "It's not about the bike" or any of his books. My biggest training goal is to someday run the Leadville 100. (And break Matt's record...just kidding)
