Favorite Shoe: Nike Size: 9.5
Age: 43.2 years old
Marital Status: married
A running wife, a Schnauzer who logs almost as many miles as we do and a toddler son who enjoys the ride up the incline on our back or runs around town in the stroller
What I do for work:
Army Infantry Officer
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Raleigh NC, Charleston SC, Mobile AL, Schweinfurt GE, and Colorado Springs. Love "the Springs": it is a fit community with plenty of good Christians and just enough earthy bearded people to make things interesting.
When I started running and what got me started:
Have been running since I was a young kid. Not great at it but I love the challenge.
What does running mean to me:
Forcing myself out the door, enjoying the scenery, the occasional that feeling that dizzying-high.
5 Marathons - still 18 min away from my goal of breaking 3 hours.
A couple ultras, time does not matter.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
You cannot get too wrapped around the axel about times because the terraing and weather make comparisons so difficult.
Enjoying God's creation
Favorite running trail and why:
A trail in Germany from Hambach to Zell to the Main River- beautiful, just enough people on it, ends at a Biergarten.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pine Mountain 40, Pine Mountain Georgia. Rolling hills, good soft surfaces, good crowd.
Best running experience:
Coming up over a hill in Germany to see the red roofs of my little town.
Worst running experience:
My attempt at 100k in the French Pyrenees Trail de Verdon. - My first attempt at that distance, not prepared, not realizing what altitude and climbing (and descending) was and thinking that trail shoes were a gimmick, I had bloody, sore feet and got timed out about 15k from the end.
Running pet peeves:
Other runners who do not wave or say hello when you cross paths on a deserted trail or lonely road.
