Grew up in Aurora, Colorado, went to college in South Dakota. Ended up in Colorado Springs for a teaching job. I enjoy all of the outdoor opportunities of the area.
When I started running and what got me started:
5th grade. A teacher encouraged me to get into running.
What does running mean to me:
Discipline, achievement, healthy lifestyle, and pushing myself everyday.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Running the Bolder Boulder for 15 years. Creating a running club at my school for my middle schoolers and getting them passionate about running. I ran my first marathon in June of 2014-(Grandma's in Duluth, MN). I will end 2014 with 4 marathons and states under my belt, and would like to do one in every state.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The peace and scenery of the trail, and the great people that you meet.
Favorite running trail and why:
Sesame. The scenery and the green
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I'm still new to this type of running, so I would say the first race of the winter series at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, because that was my first taste of trail running, and I was hooked ever since.
Best running experience:
The Bolder Boulder every year. I always look forward to that race. My second would be the Chicago Marathon. Great crowd support.
Worst running experience:
The Race to the shrine. I wasn't prepared for the steep up-hill race at that time. I think I would do just fine if I tried it now.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Vintage Kirby vacuum.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Having to use snow as tp during a long run bathroom emergency.
Running pet peeves:
Walkers or slow runners who take up the entire sidewalk and won't move to the right.
Other hobbies and interests:
Hiking, and traveling.
Other stuff:
continuing with my 50 state marathon quest, and possibly getting into triathlons.
