Family members:
My wife and training partner Karen, three kids and two dogs.
When I started running and what got me started:
I'm a cross country skier, but I run when the snow melts. I never enjoyed running until I moved to Colorado and started running on mountain trails.
What does running mean to me:
It is great off season training for skiing. I enjoy escaping into the woods with a couple of dogs.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Not many - the Ascent twice, 2004 and 2005. My goal this past summer was to improve upon my previous year's time. I finished with the exact same time, to the second. Go figure.
Favorite running trail and why:
Byers Peak, Middle Park, Colorado.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
The Ascent.
Worst running experience:
My dog was attacked by a mountain lion while we were on a run. He survived, but it was not pretty!
Neatest thing found on a run:
This summer I was running up a local peak (about 13,000 feet) very early in the morning. The sun was just coming up over the divide (we are on the west slope), and as I ran along the top of a ridgeline to the summit, I noticed that I could see my shadow on a cirque across the valley.
