My husband, Barrett, 2 boys, and 1 dog, a trail running nut named Dallas.
What I do for work:
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I like all the trails and mountains we have in Colorado. I can always find new trails and new races to explore.
When I started running and what got me started:
I ran on and off from junior high school through college. Once we moved to Colorado I really started to enjoy both distance running and trail running. I started running to stay in shape and I keep running because I love those moments when I feel like I could run forever.
What does running mean to me:
Running is my way of pushing myself to see what I can accomplish and a way for me to enjoy some really fun trails.
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Pikes Peak Ascent, Pemberton Trail 50k in Arizona (my first ultra), have completed 14+ races of marathon distance or longer.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The awesome scenery I see along the way and being away from the noise and traffic of the city.
Favorite running trail and why:
Ute Valley Park - I love the hills in Ute and I know the park really well so I can zone while running there. Plus, my dogs love to go there with me to run in the mornings.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I have so many. Pikes Peak Ascent because it so difficult. High Mountain Trail in Leadville and Breckenridge Crest because of the spectacular beauty of the areas. Pemberton because it was my first ultra and the desert is breathtaking.
Best running experience:
Finishing my first ultra.
Worst running experience:
The brutally hot 10k at the end of the Boulder Peak triathlon.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Saw a really cool owl sitting in an old tree, silhouetted against the dawn sky in Ute Valley Park.
Running pet peeves:
Other hobbies and interests:
Camping, climbing 14ers, reading, movies!
My goal for 2012 is to run the Pikes Peak Marathon for the first time :)
