Home is where your heart is --- mine is in Denver
When I started running and what got me started:
I woke up one day in May of 2006 and decided I wanted to run a marathon. That day I signed up for a marathon, and loved the training, and the race. I've been hooked ever since!
What does running mean to me:
Running is my life. I live to run, and I run to live. It keeps me healthy and motivated. I find myself constantly challenging myself to do better and shoot for bigger. Running makes me sane - and makes my family and friends think I'm insane.
Running accomplishments:
Phoenix RnR Half Marathon in 1:51: San Diego Half Marathon in 4:09:10
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I feel one with my surroundings - and I find myself talking to all of the wildlife which makes me giggle. I also feel so much more of a sense of accomplishment - especially considering I was the girl in school who hated running even a mile.
Favorite running trail and why:
Green Mountain - It's beautiful, peaceful, and it was my first trail ever --- gotta respect that.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I've only run a couple trail mountain races - my favorite was definitely the Breckenridge Independence Run. Mainly just because I absolutely LOVE that town.
Best running experience:
Best running experience was when I ran RnR San Diego Marathon. I got a runners high at mile 5 - and was literally jumping throughout the whole race I was so excited.
Worst running experience:
This is a tough question - I enjoy even my worst runs because they make my best that much better --- therefore all of my worst running experiences are also my best.
Neatest thing found on a run:
My sense of humor. I start cracking myself up around mile 16 - and it makes me crack up even more. Ha ha.
Running related bathroom stop story:
I haven't really had one... guess I haven't run far enough, or hard enough? TBD
Running pet peeves:
People who run past you without acknowledging or saying hi. So Rude!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I was a super fat baby until I was like 4. I had tons of rolls, and ate ALL the time - then all of the sudden I guess I just started eating healthy, and have ever since!
Other hobbies and interests:
I love dogs, guitar, volleyball, tennis, music and happy people.
Other stuff:
Hmmm... I have never run an ultra marathon, nor have I even run a 14er - My goal is to run both this year. =) My favorite book? I'm not much of a reader - but I loved Born to Run. Favorite movie? Dumb and Dumber - I could watch that movie every night and never get sick of it - even though the first time I saw it I hated it. =)
