Age: 42 years old
Marital Status: Married
Husband, daughter, and pup :)
What I do for work:
I work in a family business where we manufacture gaskets and rings for Dana Corp, Mahle, and guys who do tractor pulls.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born in Pueblo, CO. Moved to Valencia, Venezuela for 2.5 years (4th and 5th grade for me), then moved to Aurora, IL and have been here ever since. BUT, I will always call Colorado my home.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in 2005 because I was inspired by watching my younger brother train and try to qualify for Boston.
What does running mean to me:
Running means freedom and stress relief!
Countless 5k, 8k, 10k, half marathon races, 5 full marathons (4 Chicago Marathons and 1 Fox Valley Marathon).
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love how it makes me feel like I'm a kid again. It's like playing outside!
Favorite running trail and why:
Before my now husband moved to Illinois, he used to live in Utah. I loved running the trails in Ogden.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Unfortunately, I have never participated in a trail or mountain race. I hope to change that someday.
Best running experience:
My best running experience was the 2011 Chicago Marathon. It was perfect weather and I felt great the whole time.
Worst running experience:
The Fox Valley Marathon in 2015. It was so so hot outside and I almost fainted with less than 3 miles to the finish.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Once I found $20 which we donated to the collection fund our run club has. Another time we found a cemetery that used to be for young mothers who were sent away to have their babies, it was sad but interesting.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Thank goodness I don't have a story! haha
Running pet peeves:
When people who take walk breaks suddenly stop or block the whole route. When people spit or blow a snot rocket without looking where it will go.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
A lot of people don't realize that I have a lot of tattoos. They'll meet me during the winter or when I have long sleeves on, then suddenly see my tattoos and are shocked. They always say the same thing: you have such a cute face, why do you have all the tattoos? Like me having tattoos makes me a different person or a bad person.
Other hobbies and interests:
I love hanging out with my dog - he is my buddy who I love to run, bike, and walk with. I crochet and do cross stitch. I love coloring and drawing.
I am on a minimalist journey which has really been great. I have found that running for fun and not being so tied down to a schedule or staring at my watch has made me love running again.
