Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Hillsboro, OR; Oxford, MI; LOVE Colorado!!! Why? Because of the mountains and the sun!

When I started running and what got me started:
After almost a decade of not running, Re-started running April 2015 with the Garden of the Gods running club. It was what I needed to conquer my fear of hills! Met awesome, wonderful, inspiring people.

What does running mean to me:
Therapy. Stress relief. Social. Health. Fitting my skinny jeans.

Running accomplishments: View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
I placed for my age group in the Barr Trail Mountain race in 2017. But honestly, I think it was a! I ran a 3:07 and every year before and since, the ones who place are closer to 2:45...?!?! But, I am grateful for my swag!
I ran the Ascent race in 2017, but had to hold back because my 1st marathon was a month later, and my coach told me if I went too hard I wouldn't recover for the marathon less than a month later. Had a lot of people pass me the first 3 miles, but I passed a lot of them in the last 3 miles above! I finished and felt really strong.
My first marathon was September of 2017 - Tunnel Light Marathon in Washington. It was GORGEOUS!
My next goal is to run the Pikes Peak Marathon. Yep, I want the jacket!

What I like about trail/mountain running:
Scenery. Stress relief. Feeling full of good vibes and happy after a run.

Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail! It's challenging, it's beautiful, it's long. My favorite is getting up super early and making it to Barr Camp for pancakes!!! I haven't made it very often, but it is the most rewarding experience ever!

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Golden Leaf Half Marathon from Snowmass to Aspen. GORGEOUS!!! I sang while running it was that gorgeous! Downhill. (Except the very start which was brutal straight up a ski slope, but it didn't last long.) Catered lunch afterwards was AMAZING! Raffle afterwards had TONS of prizes. I won an Exofficio women's jacket!

Best running experience:
Oh, wow! Way too many to pin down just one. But I did do the Hood to Coast in 2009 and that was a fun memory with my sister and friend from out of state.

Worst running experience:
Any time I have to stop a run early for whatever reason.

Neatest thing found on a run:

Running related bathroom stop story:
My first marathon. I guess my nerves were a mess. I didn't understand why I kept having to go...?

Running pet peeves:
All that horse poop on the Black Forest Section 16 trail. Love that trail, but could the horse owners pick up the poo?

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I have a commercial pilots license with instrument ratings in both fixed wing and helicopter. Back in the day I flew the Apache attack helicopter and was Utah National Guard's first female to fly it. Also was my university's ROTC first female battalion commander. Had the opportunity to have an RA Officer commission in Aviation, (basically guaranteed retirement) but turned it down because I knew I wanted to be a mom first.

Other hobbies and interests:
Reading. Swimming. Skiing.

Other stuff:
Goals = Pikes Peak Marathon before I turn 50!
Beat my Barr Trail Mountain race time. Maybe age group place, for real this!
