"It's supposed to be hard. The hard is what makes it great!"

City: Colorado Springs State: CO

Favorite Shoe: Solomon SpeedCross 3 Size: 8 1/2

Age: 47.9 years old

Marital Status: Married

Family members:
Hubby, three daughters, son, goldendoodle, 2 cats

What I do for work:
Outreach, Inc.

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Hillsboro, OR; Oxford, MI; LOVE Colorado!!! Why? Because of the mountains and the sun!

When I started running and what got me started:
After almost a decade of not running, Re-started running last April with the Garden of the Gods running club. It was what I needed to conquer my fear of hills! Met awesome, wonderful, inspiring people. But! Now I'm coveting the Ascent jacket. Every time I see a jacket running in front of me with that "14,115" it makes push harder! So my goal is taking on the mountains now! 😁

What does running mean to me:
Therapy. Stress relief. Social. Health. Fitting my skinny jeans.

Running accomplishments:
Not much yet. Would LOVE to place in age category, but think I will have to run in another state to earn even that! I'll keep trying though...!

What I like about trail/mountain running:
Scenery. Stress relief. Feeling full of good vibes and happy after a run.

Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail!

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Golden Leaf Half Marathon from Snowmass to Aspen. GORGEOUS!!! I sang while running it was that gorgeous! Downhill. (Except the very start which was brutal straight up a ski slope, but it didn't last long.) Catered lunch afterwards was AMAZING! Raffle afterwards had TONS of prizes. I won an Exofficio women's jacket!

Best running experience:
Oh, wow! Way too many to pin down just one. But I did do the Hood to Coast in 2009 and that was a fun memory with my sister and old friend from out of state.

Worst running experience:
Any time I have to stop a run early for whatever reason.

Neatest thing found on a run:

Running pet peeves:
All that horse poop on the Black Forest Section 16 trail. Love that trail, but the those horse owners are really RUDE!

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I have a commercial pilots license with instrument ratings in both fixed wing and helicopter. Back in the day I flew the Apache attack helicopter and was Utah National Guard's first female to fly it. Also was my university's ROTC first female battalion commander. Had the opportunity to have an RA Officer commission in Aviation, (basically guaranteed retirement) but turned it down because I knew I wanted to be a mom.

Other hobbies and interests:
Reading. Swimming. Karate.

Other stuff:
Goals = Race the Ascent. (But may need to wait until 2017 because 2016 is race is scheduled on my twin daughters' 18th birthday.)
Run Ragnar Snowmass Trail Race summer 2016. Earn the Barr Trail Race T-shirt summer 2016. Race a triathlon summer 2016.
