Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I am an Air Force brat who has lived in many states as well as overseas - but there is no place that offers so much to do with weather that allows it to be done practically anytime you feel like it!!!
When I started running and what got me started:
I quit smoking in '92 and started eating to replace putting cigarettes in my mouth. In '00 I got a divorce, took a hard look at my sedentary lifestyle and decided to change it up! A friend of mine, a runner, was talking about doing the Pikes Peak Ascent and it sounded so cool that I had to try it out. It was PAINFULL - but I loved it! I still run on the street, but nothing is as good as trail running.

My accomplishments are all personal - I only compete against myself. I have gone from a 10 1/2 minute pace to an 8 1/2 min pace - looking for 7 1/2 min. this year. Making running friends, weight loss and the ability to breathe freely are cool bonuses!
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It is more interactive than running on the street - you move differently, rebound off rocks, jump, spin, slide, balance, fall, and for sure enjoy the scenery!
Favorite running trail and why:
don't have a favorite yet - I am still learning of new ones all the time.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent because so far it is the only one not on a street I have done! And because I look at that mountain every day and I am constantly reminded of the challenge of improving my time.
Worst running experience:
Quad cramp about a mile past Barr Camp on the '01 P.P. Ascent - big pain that did not go away and killed my time that year.
