Marital Status: to Mona Comeau [07/25/87]
Family members:
Two daughters: Sophie, 16 years and Michelle, 14.
What I do for work:
OB/GYN & Infertility
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Rochester, N.Y.; Cornwall, Ont.; Ottawa, Ont.; London, Ont.; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Nashville, TN. Colorado has the best of all worlds. The mountains-need I say more.
When I started running and what got me started:
Started running in High School. Initially, I was running the sprints! Then for cardiovascular exercise moved to longer distances. Had a fairly long hiatus during my medical training years [16 years] then returned to running @ 40.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
I qualified for Boston in my first marathon in Ottawa on Mother's Day, 2003. In the 2007 Ascent, I kept my streak alive. That makes it 9 years running the Ascent and my times keep getting faster.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
You often don't have to run, at least not on the steeper portions at higher altitudes.
Favorite running trail and why:
Section 16 to Intemann trail, but not when it's hot. I live a couple blocks from Bear Creek Park and even have a spur trail that leads into that park.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Ascent. The best part is the bus ride down.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Baseball cap
Running related bathroom stop story:
In 1978 I was in a fun run. Emphasis on FUN. People thought I was a jerk because I started sprinting to the finish line with about a quarter mile to go. When I continued sprinting 100 yards PAST the finish line straight to portapotty everyone started cheering me on. The cheering continued until I came out and gave a final bow.
Running pet peeves:
Dogs on trails. I tolerate it well when the dogs are with a lone female hiker/runner.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I make my own wine, I'm French what can I say.
Other hobbies and interests:
Big time skier so don't expect me around much in Jan-Mar.
Other stuff:
Goal for 2002 Ascent=3:20. Fell short last year but continue to go for 3:20. Favorite books: Calvin & Hobbs, Herman! For more serious reading: Alfred Lansing's ENDURANCE. It's the story of Ernest Shackleton's incredible voyage to the Antarctic in 1914-1916.
