Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Evansville, Indiana. Jackson, Tennessee. I like Colorado Springs because of all the trails and all the neat things you can do in this area.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started in 2000. My dad came out to visit and he was really overweight. I did not want to carry that tradition on and I knew I needed to do something because I was at 185lbs. I lost 47lbs and have kept it off ever since.
What does running mean to me:
A stress reducer, gives me piece of mind.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
When I finish a Sunday long run I get a smirk on my face because I feel like I have done something. I got 2nd place in my age division in the Ascent in only my 2nd attempt.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
You don't have to contend with traffic. I hate traffic.
Favorite running trail and why:
The Barr Trail because it is all UP!
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent because it is all UP and it is the only one I have ever done.
Best running experience:
2002 Pikes Peak Ascent the 2nd year when I took 14 minutes off my time from the previous year.
Worst running experience:
The Rock Canyon Half Marathon. Just thought it was really boring.
Neatest thing found on a run:
MATT CARPENTERS GLOVE ON KILL HILL, HE DROPPED IT AND I HAD TO RUN LIKE HELL TO GIVE IT BACK TO HIM!!! THAT WAS MY WORKOUT FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK!!!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I am a serious family man. I like to ride my bicycle through the garage, up the ramp, out the back kitchen door and down the deck steps.
Other hobbies and interests:
I love to fish and hunt. I also like archery.
Other stuff:
The Incline Club is a great bunch of people to train with and you are all my heroes.
