What I do for work:
I am in the U.S. Coast Guard ... guarding the Colorado Coast!
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Alexandria, VA; New Orleans, LA; Baltimore, MD; Huntsville, TX; Dallas, TX
We moved to Colorado Springs this summer; I wish I was going to be here for longer than 2 years! This place is beautiful and amazing ... so many awesome places to explore.
When I started running and what got me started:
Started running in 2012; I was working out with some friends and wanted to add Cardio. Got serious about running after the Boston Marathon bombing.
What does running mean to me:
It's really the only thing I do that is just for me.
Completed a full marathon - the Marine Corps Marathon - in 2014.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
You can achieve a solitude in mountain and trail running you don't get in road running. It's also easier on my ankles/feet/shins.
Favorite running trail and why:
Can't remember the name of the trail, but I did a trail run in the Cascade Mountains in Washington state back in 2015 where I was the only person out on the trail. I ran to 2 different waterfalls, and took the time to stop and enjoy them. That was a sublime run.
Best running experience:
The NYC Half Marathon. The only time I've been at my peak in fitness and health. I felt so good and even was able to carry out my planned race strategy, reeling in runners the last few miles.
Neatest thing found on a run:
I ran into a black bear in my neighborhood back in October! :-)
Running pet peeves:
People who invite you to run with them then leave you by yourself when you can't keep up, even though you warned them you were slow beforehand.
Other hobbies and interests:
I love camping, though, like running, I'm fairly new at it.
