"Take the hill!"
City: Colorado Springs State: CO
Favorite Shoe: One that fits... Size: 13
Age: 37.5 years old
Marital Status: Single
What I do for work:
Computer Guy for the Army
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born and raised in Richland Center, WI. I've been stationed in S. Korea, Ft. Riley, KS, 15 months in Baghdad, and Ft. Carson.
I love Colorado because of the great outdoor opportunities. There are plenty of trails to explore!
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running once I joined the Army. Prior to the Army, I could barely run 2 miles in 20 minutes. At the end of basic training I was knocking out 6:30 minute miles. I found out that I'm a decent runner and haven't looked back since!
What does running mean to me:
Running is my form of woosha! I love to throw on some music and hit the road/trails. Running helps to clear my head. I also run to stay in shape so the Army doesn't fire me! haha
Danish Contingency Run (2008)Camp Liberty,Iraq- 12 miles in 1hr 39mins (in uniform with boots and weapon!)
Bataan Memorial Death March (2009) White Sands, NM- 26.2 mile single man heavy competition **Race is 29 Mar. 09** (hoping to finish alive and in under 6 hours)
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Trail running demands more concentration. If you are zoning out and just running while on a trail then you will become chipmunk fodder!
Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail/Incline because it is just pure evil.
I have self dubbed Rampart Range Road as the hill that doesn't end and that is just evil in itself!
Best running experience:
While deployed in Iraq I used to go for 10+ mile runs around the FOB at midnight. At night it drops down to about 90 as apposed to the 135 during the day so it was nice and cool. I especially liked the running with a full moon while it reflects off the lakes I was running around. It was my piece of peace and quiet while in a war zone.
Running pet peeves:
Had a guy walking in front of me on Barr trail while talking on his cell phone.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm a straight up computer nerd lol.
Other hobbies and interests:
Camping, biking, computer games, reading, shooting pool, and cooking.
