Still trying to figure out what I want to do.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Lived all across the country and Germany (yep...military)
Love Colorado...would love to retire there. Chattanooga is really nice though! Lots of great trails!
When I started running and what got me started:
Been running since I was a wee lass... Loved running in high school, but the girls didn't have a team, so I tried out for the boys team...made it! Stopped running when I had kids...then started back in my 40's
What does running mean to me:
It keeps me grounded.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
State age record for 1 mile and 30K Boston qualifier. Over 35 marathons, 3 ultras, stage races (60 miles)
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I feel like a kid again. I can "hear" my parents yelling at me to "stop running...you're going to trip and get hurt!" Running for time doesn't seem so important to me.
Favorite running trail and why:
I couldn't say...there is something surprising around every corner...even on familiar trails.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Chattanooga Mountain Stage Race..Run 3 mountains that surround Chattanooga. 3 days of pure running. You can see what you are really made of.
Best running experience:
Stood on the starting line of the third wave of the Boston Marathon (2011). Nothing like being on the starting line of a marathon when the gun goes off. (Marathon PR)
Worst running experience:
Worst and Best....boston 2012. "walked" entire race injured. Saw what it was like in the very back. I have so much respect and thankfulness for the aid workers and spectators. Is saw a side of the race I have never seen before. Slow down and smell the roses once in a while.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Florida running is interesting. Seen emu, wild pigs, armadillos, alligators, snakes, and turtles. All in the same day!
Running related bathroom stop story:
None are g-rated.
Running pet peeves:
People running with ipods, etc.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I raise Monarch Butterflies.
Other hobbies and interests:
Love movies and books. Working with my Border Collies (agility)
