Age: 52.8 years old
Marital Status: married to Fay
Family members:

What I do for work:
Air Force Flight Surgeon/Family Practice Physician at Pentagon
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
--snowy Syracuse NY; then Rochester NY; then Washington DC; then Izmir,Turkey; then Colorado where after 34 years living at...and 20 years running at sea level, I finally discovered that Rocky Mountain "running high", then back to sea level in Hawaii, then back to mile high elevation in Albuquerque, NM, now back to sealevel in DC
When I started running and what got me started:
started running freshman year high school cross country in 1983 because I was too small for any other sport
What does running mean to me:
--we should be the lead agents in environmental stewardship
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
--ran the Pikes Peak Ascent in 2002, the Vail Hill Climb in 2004, the Kilauea Volcano Crater Rim 10 miler in 2005 and 2006, La Luz Trail Ascent on Sandia Peak in 2008
What I like about trail/mountain running:
--concrete kills
Favorite running trail and why:
--Gold Camp Road, for the same reason that Teddy Roosevelt gave
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
--Alpine Classic in Jordan-Elbridge, NY, a mid summer staple that is no more, although I heard (in response to this web page)that it has been revived in another form
Best running experience:
--Syracuse Mountain Goat 10 Miler, annual rite of Spring in upstate NY, that would be the old original classic Goat course, not the flatter/easier course they have now
Worst running experience:
--second wave of the Ascent, sidestepping and saying "on your left" 800 times
Neatest thing found on a run:
--the inside of dormant volcanic craters: Nemrut Dag volcano in eastern Turkey, Haleakala in Maui, Kilauea on Big Island of Hawaii
Running related bathroom stop story:
--the starting gun went off while I was in the portable latrine before a college cross country race on the grounds of the Saratoga Springs Perfoming Arts Center (SPAC), in NY, on a fine autumnal Friday evening, I blasted out of there, frantically pulling off my sweats and tripping over untied shoelaces as I ran to make up the 100 meter head start that I gave the field
Running pet peeves:
no talking during intervals, no baby carriages on the track,
Other hobbies and interests:
--amateur historian
Other stuff:
turned 40 and discovered the ice bath
