What I do for work:
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running when I was 14 years old at the Jersey shore in order to train for wrestling.
What does running mean to me:
It is a type of meditation......
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
At age 41, I ran a 5-30 pace for a 5 mile race in New Jersey.
I also once beat a really good wrestler and after the match successfully ran away to tell about it!
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Not being in control of the elements ....
Favorite running trail and why:
I am still attached to the Meadow trails through the Garden of the Gods..... I have spent so much time there.
Best running experience:
A couple of springs ago I went back to Jersey..to sea level to run a 5 mile race. I could not get over how easy it was to breathe.... I ran a 5-30 pace for the course.... and it felt quite easy in the "high octane air".
Worst running experience:
airforce academy half marathon (last fall)..... I had over trained the weekend before.... and I had nothing right from the start.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Leather craft pocket knife.....
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
That I think far too much and too deep about most things... and I am far too serious. I think I like racing due to the fact that in some sense it is simple.
Other hobbies and interests:
I am a fly fishing guide.... I love fishing. I also like to tellemark ski and bouldering.
I still think Chariots of Fire was one of the best films in that it dealt with the motivation and meaning behind running and competing.... I often think of that classic line "When I run I feel God's pleasure".
