My beautiful springer spaniel, Birdie
What I do for work:
An amazing non-profit called Mile High Youth Corps. Check it out!
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
My hometown is Chardon, Ohio.
I love being here first and foremost because of the mountains! However all the awesome people I've met, the lack of humidity, and having no mosquitos.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running when I was in 8th grade. I was on the cross country team.
What does running mean to me:
I love running. Your only opponent is who you were yesterday and it's a great excuse to get outside to exercise.
I have only recently started really running again and I love to see how much further and faster I am able to run week after week!
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The beautiful terrain.
Favorite running trail and why:
I love section 16! It is the perfect length and I can have a great workout going up the rough terrain and a wonderful, easy run through awesome scenery on the way down.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I really really really want to run the Big Sur Marathon! I can't think of a more amazing place to attempt to run a marathon!
Best running experience:
I went for a run in 2013 on my favorite trail while home in Ohio. It was pouring rain but under the forest canopy it was just felt like a mist. The air smelled just absolutely heavenly and there wasn't a soul but me out there.
Worst running experience:
Running down from Pikes Peak- The last three miles were so exhausting and I was so ready to be down the mountain!
Neatest thing found on a run:
Running around a turn at dusk on a trail in Ohio I came about one foot away from a raccoon. It was so funny the way we both locked eyes and jumped back frightened at the same time!
Running related bathroom stop story:
Doing the Incline I was dying I had to go so bad! So I snuck behind some tarp on the side because I figured that I would have time to go before anybody caught up to me. I turned around as I was pulling my pants up and all I saw was this guy looking mortified in my direction. We then passed each other on and off the rest of the trail up. SO AWKWARD. I couldn't even look him in the eye!
Running pet peeves:
When other people on the trail try to stop you to have a conversation. Excuse me!! I'm trying to run here!
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm terrified of going blind!!
Other hobbies and interests:
Hiking, reading, playing fetch with my dog, geology, history, drinking tea, skiing, microbrews. I'll find interest in almost anything
I'm running the Triple Crown this year!
