When I started running and what got me started:
Freshman year of high school because my sister did track and I wanted to be like her. I hated most of it till I got to run trails and stuck to that
What does running mean to me:
Running is everything to me, I have to get one run in a day at least or I feel like something is missing.
Running accomplishments:
Cuyamaca 50k course record holder, and I've made a pair of running shoes out of tire.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Being out in the open not constricted by worries, or anything all you have to do is keep going up
Favorite running trail and why:
Pikes peak, I've only done it once but it was the longest trail and hardest I've done
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Leadville 100 cause of it's history
Best running experience:
25 mile run I did over two mountains past sunset
Worst running experience:
Being forced to stop in my first ultra race
Neatest thing found on a run:
Found a dam and a small lake I never knew was there and was only 14 miles away from my house
Running related bathroom stop story:
I had to go so I stopped at a golf course bathroom that was close to the trail and the cleaning people came while I was still in the stall and I ended up sitting there for a solid 15-20 minutes waiting for them and the security guard to leave
Running pet peeves:
People who don't enjoy the run itself or do it just cause they have to
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I played football, and at one point in my life I strongly believed I was going to be a best running back out there
Other hobbies and interests:
Any other sport, nutrition, yoga, and quality show of The Office
Other stuff:
I try and hit 150 miles a week when training for a race, and I'm currently training for steamboat springs 100. I love beans and rice or a simple bean and cheese burrito
