Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Christopher Robin to Pooh

City: Colorado Springs State: CO

Favorite Shoe: Brooks Size: 8ish

Age: 42.5 years old

Marital Status: Fixin' to get hitched someday before I die

Family members:
In my house: teenage mutt, year old kitten, young chinchilla
In his house: teenage dog, toddler dog, year old dog, moody cat

What I do for work:
I teach! I love what I do! I love the challenge that each day brings, and the moment when a student really GETS it or figures out something fantastically cool on his or her own and is excited to have done it!!

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
I've lived here since I was 7 or so. Here is home! I love the mountains, I love the rolling hills...I love the...oh wait..that's a song. Seriously tho, I do love everything that Colorado offers even if I don't partake of some of it! It's nice to know it's available!

When I started running and what got me started:
I started running to see if I could. When I was a kid, I got a "C" in gym--all because I couldn't run a mile in less than a stupidly small number of minutes. So, I avoided it at all costs. I ran a 5k with a friend as grown-up and it was FABULOUS!!! Since then I've done it off and on, just recently starting up full force again.

What does running mean to me:
It's a chance to challenge myself and prove that I can do more than I think I can, that I'm stronger than I seem...

Running accomplishments:
Bash the Bluffs 5K: 43 minutes
Take 5 in the Garden 5 miler: 1 hour 13 minutes (Farthest run ever AND I LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT!!)
Registered: Race to the Shrine (run..hahahahha. funny!), BolderBoulder, Garden 10 Mile

What I like about trail/mountain running:
The view and the constant change in terrain!

Favorite running trail and why:
I don't really have one yet....will keep ya posted!

Most days, GOTG for the beauty we are blessed with. But there's a section between Goose Gossage Park and Monument Valley Park that is just tranquil...

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent. It takes serious strength and guts to run up a mountain.

Best running experience:
Take 5 in the Garden 5 miler. Never run that far before ever!

Worst running experience:
Gym class. Sixth Grade. Ran a 15 minute mile around Broadmoor Lake (my school is just behind it) and my horrid awful gym teacher humiliated me in front of my ENTIRE class (I was last) and then gave me a C in gym.

Neatest thing found on a run:
Perseverance and confidence!

Running related bathroom stop story:
I'm a teacher. I can hold it.

Running pet peeves:
People who blow past me (I'm not fast by any stretch of the imagination) without so much as an excuse me.

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I really love documentaries about weird historical and science stuff...and UFOs, which technically fall into both of those categories :P

Other hobbies and interests:
I fly fish, read, do yoga.

Other stuff:
Hope to finish the Garden 10 Mile in a reasonable amount of time (there's a 2.5 hour limit, so hopefully less than that!) and make running a priority in my life. Make it my "me" time...it's getting more like meditation every time! I also want start doing the Incline this summer.
