Lawyer (no boos, please)

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Colorado Springs (20+ years)--the trails and forests; Grinnell, Iowa; Yankton and Vermillion, South Dakota; Oxford, England; Cambridge, Mass.

When I started running and what got me started:
Started running in Iowa, while in college. Discovered trail running when we moved to Colorado.

What does running mean to me:
Running, hiking, cross-country skiing--all mean happiness, being in touch with wildlife, good conversation with friends.

Running accomplishments: View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Pikes Peak Ascent, Boreas Pass Run, Garden of the Gods.

What I like about trail/mountain running:
It really helps me to clear my mind; makes me into a better person mentally as well as physically; one more way to be in wild places.

Favorite running trail and why:
Waldo Canyon; the Chutes/Chamberlain Trail. Both have some nice level sections interspersed with the up and down.

Best running experience:
Waldo Canyon on a summer evening, the back part of the loop with the cool geology.

Worst running experience:
Old Colorado City St Patrick's Day Race, when I was passed by a grandma 25 years (at least) older than me.

Neatest thing found on a run:
Flammulated owl.
