"I may not be right all the time but I'm never wrong" -- From my dad
City: Colorado Springs State: CO
Favorite Shoe: Nike Structure Size: 14
Age: 42 years old
Marital Status: Married to Korina Nalbach
What I do for work:
Middle school physical education teacher
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Seattle, WA and Corvallis, OR. I have lived in Colorado Springs since 2001. I like Colorado Springs because of the beautiful weather and trails
When I started running and what got me started:
I grew up playing basketball, tennis, racquetball, and hiking. When I was about 21 I decided I wanted to try a marathon. I completed it, and didn't run much for five years after the marathon. I didn't anticipate being interested in running until I heard about the Boston Marathon. Five years after my first marathon I decided to try to make steps to qualify for Boston. It was a pretty rocky road to meet that goal, but I've been hooked ever since.
What does running mean to me:
I get to eat more. Beyond that...Stress reliever, challenge, goal setting, friendships, beauty, peace, rewarding. Sometimes frustrating when I don't reach a goal or get hurt, but definitely more good than bad. No other physical activity seems to give the same satisfaction.

Huntington Beach, CA: Surf City Marathon, 2:58. Completed roughly 25 marathons
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It's quiet, though lately I have been running with more groups and have enjoyed the company.
Favorite running trail and why:
Possibly section 16, but if you ask me tomorrow I will probably have a different answer
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent because it is a great challenge but doesn't beat the body up too bad.
Best running experience:
Surf City Marathon. I had the goal of running under three hours for the previous five years, and was unable to reach that goal for at least five marathons during that time. At Surf City everything came together. It was a rewarding, emotional experience and the weather was perfect.
Worst running experience:
Falling on Barr Trail and spreading out like Superman. My shoulder hurt for six months after that. Getting lost (twice) on the Run Rabbit Run 50 wasn't so much fun.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Bears - from a distance
Running related bathroom stop story:
Not much to mention, but always bring TP
Running pet peeves:
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I like to read books from the middle school library where I teach. I really enjoyed "The Hunger Games" and "Life as we knew it" series, and just finished "Rot and Ruin"
Other hobbies and interests:
Disc golf, ultimate frisbee
Hoping to get under 18 minutes for a 5k and under 5 hours for Pikes. I watch too much TV. I like temporary tattoos
