Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born and raised in Rock Island, Il on the banks of the Mississippi River. I escape the midwest and now call Colorado Springs my home. I love all of Colorado from the plains to the mountains. Oh let's not forget the Hot Springs.
When I started running and what got me started:
I was 26 years old and wanted to stay fit into my golden years.
So I started running at night or around an old quarry on an island in the Mississippi...I didn't want anyone to see me.
I got over that and joined the Cornbelt Running Club...moved Colorado and love running the trails of Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Vail.
What does running mean to me:
Running and the gym is a release for everyday life...and a place to think and be creative.
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Many years of hitting the road...Finished my the Pikes Peak Marathon..and lived to run again...and again,,,and again.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The challenge, The views, The Tress? The possibility I might be lunch for a mountain lion.
Favorite running trail and why:
Red Rock Canyon,Garden of the Gods, Ute Pass, Waldo Canyon trails. Their very special places....Most of the time it's fairly clear of tourist...but look out for the Road Apples!
Also the Stanley Res. trail on the Air Force Academy. it is one of the least used trails and the most difficult to navigate. The lake at the top is peaceful and few people go there.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Barr trail Race in July...very cool race.
Best running experience:
Running above tree line is always cool.
Worst running experience:
Ran Waldo Canyon and found at the end of the run that I lost my car keys and had to run down Hwy 24 to Manitou to call for help....Those cars get pretty close
Neatest thing found on a run:
A Macintosh Computer that someone threw away...it still works. Windows suck...Think Differently...use Macs or Linux
Running related bathroom stop story:
It hit me during the Milwaukee Lakefornt Marathon. No bathrooms in sight and no porta potties. I had to duck behind a bush on some ones front yard. But I did manage to bury it.
Running pet peeves:
People that think I can't hear them if I have my headsets on...I don't have them on so loud I can't hear whats going on.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm an alien for a distant Planet......looking for new food sources...and a new cookbook.
Other hobbies and interests:
Videography, Photography, Macintosh Computers, medical info, techno junkie, weight training and science.
Run for the fun of it...not for the PR
