Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Falun, Sweden: Born and raised. Another great place on earth. Colorado Springs: 98-03 Boston, MA: 03-05 Colorado Springs: Decided to change jobs and move back. :) Missed the mountains too much.
When I started running and what got me started:
I have been running on and off to stay in shape. After doing the ADT marathon "just for fun" in 2001 I wanted to run more races. My first run with the Incline Club in spring, 2002 got me hooked.
What does running mean to me:
Motivation and feel good experiences.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Finished second in my age group in the Triple Crown Series 2002. I don't know how that happened but I am still proud. :) ADT marathon, Colorado Springs 2001 Stockholm marathon 2003 Boston marathon 2004 Chicago marathon 2004 Cincinatti "flying pig" marathon 2005 Pikes Peak marathon 2005 (double) Phoenix "Rock'n'Roll" marathon 2006 California International marathon, Sacramento 2006 Boston marathon 2008 Tucson marathon 2008
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Scenery and variation. No cars. Softer on my body than road running.
Favorite running trail and why:
So many good ones around here. Intermann and Section 16 is really fun. After a long uphill you get to run down the most awesome downhill.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Barr Trail Mountain Race. It's just a perfect amount of uphill and downhill.
Best running experience:
Running the California International Marathon in Sacramento in December 2006. After a long period of very intense training I managed to run a "perfect" race and reach my goal of qualifying for Boston.
Worst running experience:
Boston marathon 2004. I just did not hydrate right (too much) and had to stop 10 times.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Fox with fox cubs.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Last one in the porta potti while everyone waiting at the starting line of the Barr Trail Mountain Race 2002 and 2005. Thanks for delaying the start for me! I'll try to break the tradition next time and be at the start on time.
Running pet peeves:
Trash on the trail.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
Think globally, act locally. Recycling and saving resources is very close to my heart.
Other hobbies and interests:
Watch my kids explore. Floorball, volleyball, mountain biking and snow boarding.
Other stuff:
I would like to finish a 5K in <18 minutes, break 3 hours in a road marathon :)
