Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Tegucigalpa Honduras, Fruita, Colorado, Pensacola, Florida, Elm Springs, Arkansas, Trivandrum, Kerala, India, Turkey, Cupecoy St. Maarten, Surfer's Paradise, Queensland, Australia, Cary, North Carolina, Miami, Florida, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Colorado Springs, Co. I like Colorado Springs for ALL the beautiful mountains and hill running.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in August of 2009. I wanted to get in shape for an upcoming soccer season.
What does running mean to me:
Running provides a sense of freedom. I can go anywhere my two legs will take me.
In Nov. of 2009 I completed my first half marathon. The Women's Half Marathon in St. Petersburg, Fl. On Oct 23, 2010, I completed my first 100 mile Ultra Marathon in Fountain Hills, Az, the Javelina Jundred.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I like Trail Running because it gives me an opportunity to connect with nature. It gives me a feeling of freedom from everyday worries.
Favorite running trail and why:
I don't have a lot of experience running on trails having lived in Florida for so long, but I would say my favorite trail is S. Kaibab to Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
My favorite trail race was the Javelina Jundred. This was my first Ultra as well as my 30th birthday. It was memorable for many reasons, but the most significant was that many of my good friends were there to support me!
Best running experience:
The love and support I felt when arriving back to Florida after my 100 Mile Ultra. My running group back home had bought me a birthday cake and champagne to celebrate my accomplishment. The BEST recovery meal to date!!
Worst running experience:
My WORST run ever was the Miami ING half. I had trained really hard for the race and by mile 5 I was ready to quit. By mile 9 I stopped and made a video of the beautiful biscayne bay. I figured if I wasn't going to run well at least I could enjoy the beautiful scenery. I never wanted to run again after this race. I never would have imagined just 6 months later I would be signing up for a 100 mile Ultra.
Neatest thing found on a run:
I'm still a newbie. I've not yet found anything "cool" on a run. Although after reading Matt's page, I'm going to start looking for MONEY!
Running related bathroom stop story:
Oh, do I have stories! I'm not sure the one I'm thinking of is G rated...
Running pet peeves:
Don't really have any...yet
Other hobbies and interests:
Soccer, Interior Design
Would like to run my 2nd Ultra this year 2012. Thinking about Grand Mesa 100. I also would like to do Western States one year. I love homemade food.
