What I do for work:
I'm a data coordinator, in other words a programming geek. I work from home for a company in CA.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Military brat so home is all over the world. My dad retired in Colorado Springs so I've been here since high school, love it and have made CO my home. Couldn't live without my mountain.
When I started running and what got me started:
I'm not an awesome runner, more of a fast walker. I've hiked my whole life but find mountain running to be my favorite things. I hate running along the street. The incline is my favorite workout to date and my kids can fly up it.
What does running mean to me:
I need the outdoors and fresh air. Running takes me away from all the stresses in my life and brings me back to who I am and what I love, exercise.
I'm a mudder and do every mud race I can, hoping to do the Tough Mudder before I'm 50. I ran the Buena Vista half marathon last year and hope to add in the Thelma and Louise this year.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It's the only way to go. Running on the road kills me but running on a trail in the mountains invigorates me.
Favorite running trail and why:
Currently I love doing the Templeton Trail at Palmer Park because it's close by and I can get a quick run in while the kids are at school and still get my work done. With young kids I don't get out to longer trails by myself very often.
Best running experience:
I love running mud races like the Big Dog Brag. It's not a long race but its so much fun.
Other hobbies and interests:
I am training for my 3rd degree black belt in Karate and otherwise spend my time with my kiddos. I'm hoping they grow up with the love for hiking that I have.
I've had physical issues, 4 knee surgeries and right ankle that prevent me from pushing too hard and it's something that I try to overcome without hurting myself more.
