When I started running and what got me started:
My husband and I started running when he was diagnosed with MS in 2002. Did our first marathon that year and have loved it since. I did my first triathlon in 2006 and have been doing those every year since then.
What does running mean to me:

My first marathon (ADTM in 2002). I joined a marathon running group that winter when I could barely run a mile. Crossing my first marathon finish line felt like a huge accomplishment. Since then I've done 2 1/2 Ironman Triathlons and running a 1/2 marathon as part of that event feels like an accomplishment.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I enjoy the solitude of running alone - gives me time to think, process and destress. I also enjoy running with friends and running groups for the encouragement and commraderie.
Favorite running trail and why:
Sante Fe Trail from Cache le Poudre running North. Because it's close to home!
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Barr Trail Mountain Race. I've only done it once, but was great for the local spirit, the spirit of the local running community and the high teams teams that volunteer.
Best running experience:
My first marathon.
Worst running experience:
About 5 years ago, I was doing a long run, starting at Palmer Lake and running south. It was early morning, and I was alone on the trail. A guy on a bike came from the North, passed me, then turned around and started following me. He was clearly not a biker - jeans, no helmet.. I ran faster, he sped up. As my heart rate went up, I cut across the field as fast as I could and ran for the road. I made it to the road and ran on the road to where it met the trail again. By then more people were out. As I crossed Baptist road, some swallows started dive bombing me. I bonked 2 miles before Woodmen. That is the only run I truly hated.
Neatest thing found on a run:
New ideas; I get a lot of ideas while I'm running.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Saguaro National Monument in Tucson. 1/2 way through an 8 mile loop. Enough said.
Running pet peeves:
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
Other hobbies and interests:
Triathlons. Travel. Sleeping.
My husband Steve and I Co-Caption a Bike MS team (Team TriForMS) every year to raise money for MS. Our team raised over $22,000 in 2010!
2011: No long triathlons planned, probably a sprint or olympic distance or tow. Plan on doing the Ascent this year. Bike MS.
