Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where my heart will always be. While I was in the Army I've lived and been all over.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running when I was 16 because it helped to clear my mind. I started running on my own accord after being motivated by watching "Rocky" run for what seemed forever through Philadelphia, shortly there after I was hooked.
What does running mean to me:
I never knew running meant so much to me until I was injured in 2004. Before the injury I ran to stay in shape for the Army though the Army had a way of making it not fun and because of that I halfway enjoyed running on my own. When I was injured to the point that running was completely out of the question for over a year all I could think about was RUNNING, ironic huh? After rehab and a very long humbling recovery period of jog walking, I came out much more serious and determined to pursue running with a new zest. Running now is something that means the world to me.
Running accomplishments:
Before my injury I ran races ranging from 2mi pr of 1202 to half marathon pr of 1:38. After my injury...now I've completed runs up to 10 miles though not quite as fast as I use to be.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Unable to put into words why I love running in the woods or up the side of a mountain, I guess part of it's a challenge and the other part is being out in nature.
Favorite running trail and why:
Miller hill Ft. Lewis Washington. Numerous trails and loops, hills are short, long, gradual, steep, and a couple that are almost straight up.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Haven't run one yet, I am hoping to run one very soon.
Best running experience:
Every run that ends on a "high" lately has been.
Worst running experience:
The run that injured me.
Running pet peeves:
finding trash on the trail
Other hobbies and interests:
rock climbing, swimming, and recently snowboarding.
