City: Falcon State: Co
Favorite Shoe: Saucony Omni 11 Size: 8
Age: 46.4 years old
Marital Status: Married since October 31, 1998-Best Day Ever!
I have a wonderful husband and two amazing daughters, ages 7 and 5. We don't have many days that don't include a lot of laughing and silliness in our house!
What I do for work:
I work at Comcast Spotlight, selling television and online advertising. I have been fortunate to work a job share since 2006. I only work Wed-Friday and enjoy a 4 day weekend every week.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I was born in a small town called Batavia in upstate New York. I have a huge family that still lives there, but my immediate family moved to Colorado in 1980. I love Colorado! I find it hard not to be active in such a great city like Colorado Springs...we have it all!
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in Middle School track, mid 80's. I was an on again off again runner for years in my early 20's and 30's. It wasn't until February 2011 when I joined BRC Fit Team for Women, that I made running a hobby. Now I am a true addict!
What does running mean to me:
In my world of phones, lap tops, kids and everyday drama, I find my only true outlet of peace is while I am running. It is my spa day, my therapy and my sabbatical for my brain. It is also my way to stay fit and feel healthy. I love to be active with biking, hiking, swimming...but my true love is now running!
I ran my first marathon June 2012. It was the San Diego Rock n Roll. A marathon had been on my bucket list for over 16 years.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The Ascent in 2013 will be my first try at a mountain race. This is a new goal for me to achieve.
Favorite running trail and why:
I am a newbie at mountain trails, right now I am still trying to adapt to running down Barr Trail after the incline.
Best running experience:
My best experience was the Denver Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 2011. It was my first real attempt at a half, and I enjoyed every minute of the race.
Worst running experience:
Unfortunately, my best experience was also my worst. During my half at Denver Rock n Roll, I got a stress fracture and was out for over 10 weeks. It was devastating after coming off of two great seasons of running. I had never dealt with injury before this time.
Running related bathroom stop story:
Sante Fe Trail between Monument and Palmer lake (the huge section without a bathroom) in March of 2012. Stomach flu...enough said! Such bad memories of that entire run!
Running pet peeves:
I get so frustrated when running clubs take up the entire trail and will not move over for those that are running by. I wish they would consider some running 101 courtesy prior to starting out. Running on the side of a ravine is not how I like to spend my early evening runs.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
People that have met me after August 2011, would not know that I lost over 85 pounds after being overweight for 18 years of my adult life. I love to show old photos and have people be surprised that I was once an over weight athlete! I am also a forever 80's rocker at heart. I love the 80's!
Other hobbies and interests:
I love to spend time with my husband and daughters. We love all zoos, and love to tour different ones when we are out of state. My 2nd favorite place in the country is S. California. I go there about once a year. I am very involved with my church, Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church and daughters school, Divine Redeemer Catholic School. If I had an endless supply of cash flow, I would be traveling everyday. I love to visit new and old places. I am happiest when I am on the go.
I love to read, and find that Historical Fiction is my favorite type of reading. If you have not read "Unbroken" the true story of Louie Zamperini, you should read it sooner than later. It is a remarkable story!
I am a romantic at heart, and my favorite all time movie is Everafter with Drew Barrymore. I am also a huge fan of Julia Roberts and love almost every movie she has been in.
The Count of Monte Cristo is another great movie that helps me put in perspective goals that I want to achieve.
