Persistence is a way of life! Never give in or give up!
City: Panama City State: FL
Favorite Shoe: Adidas Adizero Boston Size: 10.5
Age: 68 years old
What I do for work:
Retired Respiratory Therapist
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Born in Geneva, NE. After college, moved to Union, SC then to Panama City, FL. Like living near the Gulf of Mexico, great trail running in the Appalachicola River bluffs and basins. Closest things I have to mountains!
When I started running and what got me started:
Started running at age 36. I purchased an exercise physiology system. I was the trial subject and found that I had "issues" in my physiology. Started running! Never looked back.
What does running mean to me:
This is a way of life. I promote running, direct races and have a website that does the same: www.draggintailrun.com
Enjoy road trips to new venues and the new friends I meet.
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Pikes Peak Marathon, Big Sur Marathon, Florida Ironman, TransRockies 6 Day Stage Run!
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I love the trails and nature. Try to avoid the congestion of the city and traffic. I enjoy the challenges that hills, mountains and rugged terrain provide. The trail runners are much more friendly!
Favorite running trail and why:
Torreya State Park trails and Mount Cheaha 50K Trail Run. Running through the middle of a hardwood forests with diverse terrain.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Favorite mountain race is the Pike's Peak Marathon. TransRockies 6 Day Stage Run...Love the mountains!
Best running experience:
Running past all the abundant wildlife in Alaska or running across the Rockies for 6 days. Beautiful!
Worst running experience:
Bonking during a half ironman triathlon.
Neatest thing found on a run:
I run though a very isolated forest system that has unique plant life. During the spring runs, everything is in bloom. I came across a butterfly hatch where it look like it was snowing with all the emerging butterflies.
Running related bathroom stop story:
While running Big Sur, a female stopped right beside the road, with everyone running by, and did the dirty!
Running pet peeves:
There are 2. Runners prior to even running that have not bathed in weeks! It is one thing to smell after running but to start off stinking, that's bad. Number 2: Aggressive, impolite runners that are extremely rude.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
Other hobbies and interests:
Kayaking, Directing trail and road races!
I love to stretch the envelope! Push yourself to achieve what appears to be just out of reach. I love ice cream!! and most foods!
