What I do for work:
I'm a Unix Systems Administrator at Oracle
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I grew up in Michigan, most of my running was done there in High School. I also lived in Venice Fl, Belleville, IL and then the Air Force brought me to Colorado Springs
When I started running and what got me started:
I ran Track and Cross Country in high school. After a several years off, I trained and ran(hiked) the Ascent in 2002. This year I am making another attempt at the Ascent as an incentive to lose weight.
What does running mean to me:
Running gives me a tremendous sense of accomplishment. It is also an excellent way to lose weight.

I have run numerous 5k' and 10K's. I have done the GOG 5 and 10 mile races. I completed the Pikes Peak Ascent in 2002 and 2006.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It is an extreme challenge for me. I am far from being good at it, but someday I'll get it.
Best running experience:
The half marathon in Ann Arbor Michigan. Just a beautiful run with lots of people. It was a lot of fun.
Worst running experience:
The Ascent, I didn't carry enough food and bonked really bad. At least I was able to finish.
Running related bathroom stop story:
My girlfriend in high school qualified for state. A couple of us guys ran with her to train to give her a challenge. I had to leave her, and sprint to a friends house along the way. My friend wasn't home, and I had to explain to his mom, my urgency. Of course, after the stop, I had to a hual to catch back up to my girlfriend. This was a little uncomfortable for a high school teen ager.
Running pet peeves:
CRAMPS - Shin splints
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I enjoy woodworking
Other hobbies and interests:
Woodworking, outdoors, travel
