What I do for work:
I am a Financial Planner and Registered Dietitian.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
10/2011 - Back in St. Louis, MO. Chicago; Little Rock; Lafayette, LA; St. Louis; What I love about Colorado Springs is the outdoors, the mountains - and all the activities that you can do: hiking, cycling and running.
When I started running and what got me started:
I ran in junior high and high school on the track and cross country teams and then stopped running in college. I started again in 2002 when I signed up with Team in Training to do the St. Louis Marathon in 2003. I then did the LA marathon in 2004, the St. Louis half two weeks later and then the St. Louis marathon in 2004, completing 3.5 marathons in twelve months. I have not really run since and want to get back into it.
What does running mean to me:
Enjoying of the outdoors, although I don't really get to enjoy all of the scenes as I am looking down at the ground/path.
Running accomplishments:
Three and a half marathons in twelve months: St. Louis 2003, LA 2004 (it got up to 94 degrees in March), St. Louis half two weeks later and then St. Louis marathon again in 2004.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Not sure yet. This will be new to me.
Favorite running trail and why:
Yet to be discovered.
Worst running experience:
Training for the St. Louis marathons during the winter months in St. Louis - snow and ice. in 2004 for one of my long runs, due to the low temps and ice, I choose to do four spinning classes back to back to make up for a 20 mile run on ice.
Running related bathroom stop story:
It is sometimes easier to find a bush than to wait in line at a port-a-potty during a marathon.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I have completed over 30 century bike rides in MO, IL, IN and KY; the longest being 162 miles in 10.5 hours - RAIN, Ride across INdiana.
Other hobbies and interests:
Hiking, cycling, reading, cribbage.
