Favorite Shoe: Saucony Progrid Guide Size: 6.5W

Age: 30.4 years old

Marital Status: single

Family members:
In Colorado:
Bowser (Lab/Border mix puppy)
Shakespeare (Great Dane puppy)

In Missouri:
Mom, Dad, and two younger sisters

What I do for work:
I'm an office manager at a physical therapy clinic and I coach gymnastics, so I'm either pushing/throwing around papers or children. ;)

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Kansas City, MO
Denton, TX
Colorado Springs, CO

I absolutely love the weather, mountains, and active people here!

When I started running and what got me started:
I started running (more than the 70 feet required for vaulting)in high school during gymnastics. I couldn't keep up with the other girls during our warmup so the coach made me start practice each day by running on the elliptical for an hour. Her plan worked! Then, in college, we started running outside during our preseason training and I did my first 10k race (a Turkey Trot in Houston)and LOVED IT!

What does running mean to me:
Running provides an escape for thinking, a sense of community, a great runner's high, and new goals to work towards.

Running accomplishments: View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Little Rock Marathon 2010
Tough Mudder Colorado 2011
Pikes Peak Ascent 2011

What I like about trail/mountain running:
The scenery is breathtaking and I like the variety (my muscles also thank me for the change, but my feet aren't too sure about the new blisters).

Favorite running trail and why:
Haven't run a lot of trails yet, but I do love Barr Trail.

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
The Ascent is my only trail/mountain race so far, so I guess I will have to claim it as my favorite. I'm doing the Barr Trail Mountain Race soon and looking forward to it...I've heard great things!

Best running experience:
Finishing my first marathon in Little Rock in 2010 with my family cheering me on during the course and at the finish line. Even though my body wasn't too thrilled, I knew I would have to do more!

Tough Mudder Colorado in 2011. Craziest race of my life. We had a two-woman team and went all out with our black and orange Tough Mudder outfits and even flipped on stage in the costume contest!

Worst running experience:
I was supposed to do two 9mi loops on Greenland Open Space. I had a water bottle and was going to grab some Gatorade and Shot Blocks from my car after the first loop. I somehow got lost (can you believe it is even possible there?) and was running for about three hours with very little water (I even stopped and scooped up a little snow in my bottle and shook it around to melt) before I staggered to my car.

Neatest thing found on a run:
Haven't found anything tangible so far. Only good conversations.

Running related bathroom stop story:
I haven't been running long enough to have to make any unplanned stops yet! Thank goodness!

Running pet peeves:
Owners that leave dog poo in the middle of a trail. If you don't have a bag, at least get something to scoop it off to the side and cover it up!

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
Haven't had dessert in years (unless you count drinks...I'm a sucker for a frozen margarita!)

Other hobbies and interests:
I love:
Doing handstands
Reading
Large breed dogs
