What I do for work:
Chase 3 kids under the age of 5; part time freelance violinist.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!); Toledo, Ohio; Ypsilanti, Michigan; Colorado Springs. It's amazing to be in the mountains, on a trail only minutes after leaving my house!
When I started running and what got me started:
My dad was a runner, and I started running because I admired him. I started in high school to get in shape.
What does running mean to me:
Sanity! All my problems fade within minutes of starting a run. I come back ready to take care of my kids and better able to deal with life in general. I'm a much happier person when I get to run.

Ascent in under 4 hours in 2006 as a rookie. First Place in age group for Triple Crown Series in 2006.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Being on a trail rather than a road just makes me happy. I really like going up hills, too. I like that it's ok to be slow and even ok to walk on the big hills.
Favorite running trail and why:
Trails in Garden of the Gods: requires a lot of concentration; none of the hills are too long; great scenery.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Ascent: I like going up hill and I like things that are really difficult.
Best running experience:
2006 Ascent: the weather was great, cool and overcast. For most of the race I was in a cloud and couldn't see much beyond where I was. It forced me to just focus on each switchback rather than looking ahead. I loved catching and passing a bunch of Wave 1 people, too!
Worst running experience:
Tried to run at 5:30 am on an empty stomach once, and felt sick the rest of the day.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Running pet peeves:
Dogs that jump on me.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I can out-eat almost anyone, especially after a long run. I look like a lightweight, so people are shocked!
Other hobbies and interests:
"Set" game; books; entertainment gossip; documentaries; classical music.
Everyone calls me Liz. Current favorite author: Anne Lamott. Favorite movies: Almost Famous, The Matrix, The Spanish Prisoner.
